is called product. Followings are the broad classification of different products
that are traded on commodity derivative exchanges globally.
Agricultural Products: Agricultural products means agricultural, horticultural,
viticulture, and dairy products, livestock and the products thereof, the products
of poultry and bee raising, the edible products of forestry, and any and all products
raised or produced on farms and processed or manufactured products thereof. Example
includes, Rice, wheat, Maize, pulses, Oilseeds, Timber products, Edible oil, Oil
meal, Milk Powder, Meat, egg etc.
Energy Products: It includes, crude oil, refined products of crude oil, natural
gas, coal which are used for heating and generating power.
Metallic products: Metallic commodities that classified into
- Precious metals:For example, Gold, Silver, and Platinum etc.
- Base Metals: Copper, Zinc, Nickel, Aluminum etc.
- Ferrous Metals: Steel
Exotic products: It includes weather ( eg. Temp, Rainfall), carbon credit
Minerals: A mineral is a naturally occurring chemical compound,
usually of crystalline form and a biogenic in origin. A mineral has one specific chemical composition.
E.g. Diamond (Carbon), Limestone(calcium), Quartz (silica) etc.
